I shout from mountain tops for my fellow corporate folks to get a coach. Because a good coach is someone who can see things from your perspective, be on team YOU & support you in making tweaks that feel authentic & easy to apply.
Hiring my first coach was one of my bravest boldest gifts to myself & one of the best investments I made in myself. That investment keeps on giving to this day.
But finding a right a coach can feel like daunting. So I am going to help you out here. By sharing 7 phrases coaches these days often use. If you hear them in their social media hang outs or in your intake call - turn around & run for your life because - honestly you will end up spending money with very little 'meaningful' return on your investment.
1. Start from where you are… Err where else are you supposed to start from ?
2. I don’t know who needs to hear this… Well then maybe you shouldnt say it.
3. They quote other people & peddle you theory, research & information instead of actionable tips & tweaks you can apply. If you don't hear outcomes & results they deliver -politely say thank you & walk away.
4. I am sure you know this already but... Please don't waste my time & money telling me something I already know.
5. More self-disclosure & authenticity posts about them instead of their craft... No thank you please. Their social media is a great window into what to expect for the paid sessions.
6. Once you do this thing I am telling you, you wont need anything else...Err they cant be fortune tellers. Your life & situations will change.
7. I have an exciting annoucement about my new coaching programme... Exciting for who? If it's exciting for me then tell me that else, thank you & good bye.
I hope these phrases will help you discern quicker & faster on detecting fluff from reality.
You are your best asset. Don't let it become mediocre.
